THE STATISTICS

THE LOWDOWN

HULL FC

Head Coach: Lee Radford

Squad: Connor, Downs, Faraimo, Fash, Green, Harris, Lane, Logan, Matongo, Miloudi, Minichiello, Paea, Scott, Shaul, Taylor, Tuimavave, Washbrook, Westerman

Unavailable: Jordan Abdull, Marc Sneyd, Josh Bowden, Fetuli Talanoa, Josh Griffin, Danny Houghton, Sika Manu, Dean Hadley, Albert Kelly

  • Hull put up a valiant fight against St Helens in their Challenge Cup quarter-final last week but fell just short in their efforts to retain the trophy for a third straight year. That came on the back of their young side going down to Warrington in the previous week 30 points to 12.

  • Hull suffered three further injuries last week with Danny Houghton, Sika Manu and Dean Hadley all ruled out of this contest as a result. Albert Kelly was initially named in the 19-man squad but has also been ruled out to leave a squad of 18. Lee Radford has confirmed halfback Liam Harris will make his home debut in Kelly’s absence.

  • The Black and Whites have won all six of their home games this season and will be looking to extend that run here although they will have to overcome a team that defeated them earlier in the season.

SALFORD RED DEVILS

Head Coach: Ian Watson

Squad: Bibby, Flanagan, Griffin, Johnson, Jones, Kopczak, Littlejohn, Lui, McCarthy, Mossop, Murray, Nakubuwai, Olpherts, Sa’u, Shorrocks, Tasi, Tomkins, Welham, Wood

Unavailable: Kriss Brinning, Luke Burgess, Niall Evalds, Greg Burke, Ed Chamberlain

  • Salford’s poor form continued as they were defeated 16-24 by Huddersfield last week with the Red Devils dropping out of the top 8 as a result.

  • Niall Evalds is out with a broken leg whilst new signings Greg Burke and Ed Chamberlain are ineligible to feature in this game. Josh Jones, Kris Welham and Jack Littlejohn could all return to the side having been named in the 19-man squad.

  • Salford have lost their last four Super League games whilst their away record throughout the season has been poor with just one win from their seven games on the road.

THE PREDICTION

Hull host Salford with both teams in need of the points for different reasons. FC are two points outside of the top 4 whilst Salford sit a point outside of the top 8 with every point crucial as the league split creeps ever closer. Hull’s efforts against St Helens last week will have taken a lot out of them and they will need to produce a performance on the back of that with energy levels bound to be low. Whether Salford can exploit that on the back of their week off is another matter but their poor away form coupled with Hull’s home should mean the Black and Whites can earn the win.
