THE STATISTICS

THE LOWDOWN

Head Coach: Rick Stone

Squad: Brough, Clough, Ferguson, Gaskell, Hinchcliffe, Ikahihifo, Leeming, Mamo, McGillvary, McIntosh, Murphy, O’Brien, Rankin, Roberts, Roche, Smith, Ta’ai, Turner, Walne

Unavailable: Leroy Cudjoe, Shannon Wakeman, Alex Mellor, Tom Symonds, Michael Lawrence, Tyler Dickinson

  • Huddersfield were comfortable winners against Warrington last time out as they defeated the Wolves 20 points to six.
  • Rick Stone makes just one change to his 19-man squad from the Warrington game with Tyler Dickinson missing out through injury but Adam Walne returns.
  • Huddersfield have conceded 36 points or more in four of their last five games and now face a St Helens side that have scored 67 points in their opening two games of the season.

ST HELENS

Head Coach: Justin Holbrook

Squad: Amor, Barba, Douglas, Fages, Grace, Lees, Lomax, Makinson, McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Percival, Peyroux, Richardson, Roby, Smith, Swift, Taia, Thompson, Walmsley, Wilkin

Unavailable: Ryan Morgan, Morgan Knowles

  • St Helens overcame the 52nd minute sending off of Morgan Knowles to hold on and defeat Catalans in their last outing.
  • Knowles misses out for Saints as he begins a four-match ban following his red card in the South of France. Matty Lees comes into the squad in his place.
  • Saints have began the season well with Ben Barba looking like he has rediscovered his best form. They will look to him once again to create try-scoring opportunities as they attempt to score 21 points or more for the sixth game running.

KEY STATS

  • Huddersfield Giants have lost 5 of their last 6 Super League matches
  • St Helens have won 5 of their last 6 Super League matches
  • There has been a total of 290 points scored in the last 6 Super League meetings between the two sides at an average of 48.3 per game
  • There has been a total of 52 tries scored in the last 6 Super League meetings between the two sides at an average of 8.7 per game
  • St Helens have scored 21 points or more in their last 5 Super League matches
  • Huddersfield Giants have conceded 36 points or more in 4 of their last 5 Super League matches

THE PREDICTION

Huddersfield won their first game in six when beating Warrington in their previous game and will hope another home fixture can see them notch another win but face a tough test against a St Helens side that have began the season in impressive fashion. Huddersfield’s defence has been a real problem stretching back into last season and with Saints’ attacking prowess, they will struggle to win back-to-back games with the away side having too much in their arsenal.
