THE STATISTICS

THE LOWDOWN

ROOSTERS

Head Coach: Trent Robinson

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Mitchell, Manu, Ferguson, Matterson, Cronk, Waerea-Hargreaves, Friend, Taukeiaho, Cordner, Liu, Radley – Interchanges: Napa, Tetevano, Aubusson – Reserves: Cornish, O’Sullivan, Collins

Unavailable: Luke Keary

  • Sydney Roosters were impressive once again as they defeated top 4 rivals St George. The Roosters ran in seven tries to comfortably claim the spoils with a Latrell Mitchell hat-trick stealing the show in a 36-18 win.

  • Luke Keary is out with a knee injury in what could be a big blow to the Roosters. Ryan Matterson moves from the back row to take Keary’s place at five-eighth. Dylan Napa is back for the Roosters with the last place on their bench still up for grabs.

  • The Roosters have won seven of their last eight matches and with last week’s win, they leapfrogged the Dragons into third place on the ladder with the Chooks just two points off top spot.

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS

Head Coach: Paul Green

Starting 13: Martin, Feldt, Tuala, Linnett, O’Neill, Clifford, Thurston, Scott, Granville, McLean, Cooper, Hess, Taumalolo – Interchanges: Hampton, Fensom, Asiata, Bolton – Reserves: Bowen, Molo

Unavailable: Josh Chudleigh, Michael Morgan, Sam Hoare

  • North Queensland kept Newcastle scoreless in the second half to overcome the Knights in a narrow win last week. The Cowboys were 12 points behind at the break but scored 14 unanswered points to claim a 20-18 win.

  • Matt Scott and John Asiata rotate with Scott coming into the run-on side and Asiata reverting to the bench.

  • After five successive defeats, the Cowboys secured a valuable win last week which lifted them two points clear of the bottom of the ladder.

THE PREDICTION

Sydney Roosters continued their impressive run of form as they defeated St George last week to leapfrog the Dragons into third spot. The Roosters are now just two points off the top of the ladder as they chase the minor Premiership. This week, they host the lowly Cowboys who secured a good win of their own last week. Having trailed by 12 at half-time, the Cowboys produced a solid second half in which they constantly looked to build pressure and were eventually rewarded as a 77th minute Gavin Cooper try nudged the Cowboys ahead. However, they travel to the Roosters this week who should secure their eighth win in nine games.
