THE STATISTICS

THE LOWDOWN

ROOSTERS

Head Coach: Trent Robinson

Starting 13: Tedesco, Manu, Mitchell, Aubusson, Ferguson, Keary, Cronk, Tetevano, Friend, Napa, Cordner, Matterson, Liu – Interchanges: Waerea-Hargreaves, Taukeiaho, Butcher, Radley – Reserves: Nuuausala, Baptiste

Unavailable: Daniel Tupou

  • Sydney Roosters were beaten by St George last week to fall to 4-4 for the season. The Roosters still can’t seem to find any consistency in their performances with the Dragons proving too good last week in a 24-8 defeat.
  • Trent Robinson has named the same side that were defeated last week with Reece Robinson still unable to force his way back into the side.
  • The Tricolours have made the most handling errors in the NRL with 40, whilst also making more total errors than any side too with 108.

SEA EAGLES

Head Coach: Trent Barrett

Starting 13: T. Trbojevic, M. Wright, Suli, Kelly, Uate, Walker, Cherry-Evans, Fonua-Blake, Koroisau, Taupau, Thompson, Lane, J. Trbojevic – Interchanges: Brown, Winterstein, Perrett, Paseka – Reserves: T. Wright, Sipley

Unavailable: Jorge Taufua, Curtis Sironen, Kelepi Tanginoa, Jackson Hastings, Brad Parker, Lachlan Croker, Jake Gosiewski

  • Manly lost their fourth consecutive game as they were beaten by Newcastle last week. In a tight game, a 75th minute Nathan Ross try sealed the win for the Knights as the Sea Eagles’ woes continued in a 12-18 loss.
  • Lachlan Croker has been ruled out for the season after suffering an ACL injury last week. Jake Gosiewski is also out with a hand injury so Frank Winterstein comes into the side along with Moses Suli who will make his club debut.
  • Manly looked after the ball a lot better than in previous weeks as they completed at 85% against the Knights. However, despite 57% of possession, they were lacking ideas in attack as they struggled to break down the defensive efforts of the Knights.

THE PREDICTION

Things haven’t quite clicked into place for Sydney Roosters so far this season but a home contest against Manly provides them with a good opportunity to set things right. The Sea Eagles have allowed their off-field issues to play a part in their on-field performances as they languish towards the bottom of the table with just two wins in 2018. Both sides have plenty to improve on moving forward but it’s the Roosters who should have the greater ability with some outstanding talent in their side. Should they find the right combinations, it could be a long afternoon for Manly.
