THE STATISTICS

THE LOWDOWN

BULLDOGS

Head Coach: Dean Pay

Starting 13: Hopoate, B. Morris, J. Morris, Holland, R. Smith, Lewis, Frawley, Tolman, Lichaa, Klemmer, Jackson, Martin, Elliott – Interchanges: Marshall-King, Fualalo, Ogden, Eastwood – Reserves: Toomaga, Olive

Unavailable: Kieran Foran, Raymond Faitala-Mariner, Marcelo Montoya

  • Canterbury produced a brilliant performance as they nilled St George last week. The Bulldogs ran in six tries with a superb hat-trick from Reimis Smith the catalyst for the big win as they slayed the Dragons 0-38.

  • The Bulldogs unsurprisingly name an unchanged team after last week’s hugely impressive win.

  • Back-to-back wins have seen the Bulldogs rise to 12th on the ladder and after a turbulent season, that would be seen as a decent achievement. A third win in a row would round the season off nicely for the Bulldogs as they prepare for 2019.

SHARKS

Head Coach: Shane Flanagan

Starting 13: Holmes, Feki, Dugan, Capewell, Lee, Moylan, Townsend, Fifita, Brailey, Prior, Lewis, Graham, Gallen – Interchanges: Sorensen, Segeyaro, Woods, Bukuya – Reserves: Paulo, Flanagan

Unavailable: Jack Williams, Jesse Ramien, Ricky Leutele

  • Cronulla were comfortable winners over Newcastle last week. The Sharks ran in four tries in the second half to run away with the contest as they sealed a 38-12 win.

  • Matt Moylan was a late scratch with a hamstring injury last week but returns to the team here with Kyle Flanagan making way.

  • As long as the Sharks don’t suffer a big loss here, they will finish inside the top 4 and could make it as high as third with a good run of results coupled with the loss of form for the Panthers and Dragons ensuring they get two bites of the cherry if needed in the play-offs.

THE PREDICTION

This game would have been easy to predict just a couple of months ago but the Bulldogs have turned themselves around recently with four wins from their last five matches with the highlight coming in last week’s hammering of the Dragons. They now host a Sharks side that will compete in the play-offs with them also set to finish inside the top 4. They too were big winners last week and will be looking for a fourth consecutive game. However, the Bulldogs will want to end the season on a high after a string of impressive performances. This game could go either way but the Bulldogs can pull off another shock result here.
