THE STATISTICS

THE LOWDOWN

RAIDERS

Head Coach: Ricky Stuart

Starting 13: Abbey, Cotric, Oldfield, Leilua, Rapana, Austin, Williams, Lui, Hodgson, Boyd, Soliola, Whitehead, Papalii – Interchanges: Guler, Paulo, Havili, Bateman – Reserves: Murchie, Knight

Unavailable: Jack Wighton, Jarrod Croker, Aidan Sezer, Joseph Tapine

  • Canberra managed to eke out a gutsy win over minor Premiership-chasing Sydney Roosters last week. Despite been outscored one try to two, the Raiders made penalty goals count as Sam Williams’ four efforts sealed the narrow 14-12 win for his side.

  • Aidan Sezer had hoped to be fit enough to play after his hamstring injury but was ruled out 24 hours before kick-off. Joseph Tapine is also out but with Michael Oldfield back in the centres, Elliott Whitehead reverts to his usual spot in the second row.

  • The Raiders ended a four-game losing streak with the win last week and will be hoping to complete back-to-back wins in what will be another tough game although they will be boosted by facing an under-strength Rabbitohs side.

RABBITOHS

Head Coach: Anthony Seibold

Starting 13: Johnston, Graham, Inglis, Gagai, Hunt, Walker, Reynolds, T. Burgess, Cook, G. Burgess, Sutton, Crichton, S. Burgess – Interchanges: Murray, Clark, Tatola, Fuimaono – Reserves: McIlwrick, Turner, Britt, Tracey

Unavailable: Adam Doueihi, Robert Jennings

  • South Sydney were outplayed by Brisbane last week as the Rabbitohs’ injury issues came back to bite them. Souths pulled level with two quick tries in the second half but the Broncos were too good late on as they beat the tired-looking Rabbitohs 38-18.

  • Souths are still without top scorer Robert Jennings but are boosted by the return of key pair Alex Johnston and Greg Inglis. Campbell Graham is also back on the wing with Dane Gagai reverting to his preferred position in the centres.

  • The Rabbitohs lost their second consecutive game last week and their third from their last five games as their tilt at the minor Premiership falters. If Souths are to have any chance of claiming that title, they must get back to winning ways here.

THE PREDICTION

South Sydney will be hoping the return of bodies in their outside backs can give them a chance at claiming the minor Premiership. If they are to do that, they must travel to Canberra and come away with the win but they will be confident despite losing their last two games. The Rabbitohs have captain Greg Inglis back after a long lay-off whilst Campbell Graham and Alex Johnston also return. Canberra beat Sydney Roosters in a shock win last week and will be hoping to do the same to the Roosters’ Sydney rivals. However, Souths will be hurting after two defeats in a row and will bounce back with a win here.
