LAST MEETING
Exeter 46-10 Gloucester

THE LOWDOWN

EXETER

Head Coach: Rob Baxter

  • The Chiefs are coming off the back of a dramatic 31-29 victory over Bristol Bears last weekend which maintained their unbeaten start to the Premiership season.

  • Last season’s runners-up are without many of their key players due to the ongoing internationals but head coach Rob Baxter believes that their team spirit is helping them to maintain their excellent start to the season.

  • Exeter have the best points differences in the Premiership of 103 as although they haven’t scored the most points, they have the best defence by far which has stifled their opposition.

GLOUCESTER

Head Coach: Johan Ackermann

  • Gloucester are in good form and most recently thrashed a poor Leicester side 36-13 in which they scored five tries.

  • England international Danny Cipriani made an excellent comeback in that game after serving a three-week suspension due to his high tackle which resulted in a red card in October's Champions Cup loss to Munster.

  • The Cherry and Whites have also had a very good start to the season as they currently sit third in the league table having lost just two of their seven games.

THE PREDICTION

At the moment, Sandy Park Stadium seems like a fortress for any away team playing there. Exeter look extremely strong at home and it’s going to take a monumental effort from Gloucester to hand the Chiefs their first loss of the season. Exeter should maintain their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday, which would put some breathing space between them and Saracens in second - who are also unbeaten so far this season.
