LAST MEETING
Wales 24-6 Tonga

THE LOWDOWN

WALES

Head Coach: Warren Gatland

  • Wales ended an unwanted losing streak against Australia last week as they downed the Wallabies at the 14th time of asking.

  • Neither side were able to break the opposition down and had to settle for penalty goals with Dan Biggar’s late effort the difference in the 9-6 win.

  • Warren Gatland has suggested he may field an entirely different starting XV to the one that took the field against Australia last weekend.

TONGA

Head Coach: Toutai Kefu

  • Tonga warmed up for their trip to Cardiff with a win over the French Barbarians last weekend. The Tongans ran out 38-49 winners.

  • That was Tonga’s third consecutive win having beaten Fiji and Samoa in their previous outings.

  • Tonga have never won an international game against the Welsh, losing all eight encounters so far.

THE PREDICTION

This game may prove to be a great opportunity for Wales’ fringe players to stake a place in the side moving forward. With one autumn international left after this fixture and the World Cup quickly approaching as we prepare to head into 2019, head coach Warren Gatland has rotation in his mind. Those who come in will want to put on a show and they can do just that to extend their winning run over the Tongans to nine matches.
