Scotland 16-34 South Africa

THE LOWDOWN

SCOTLAND

Head Coach: Gregor Townsend

  • Scotland produced a superb second half display as they demolished Fiji last week with Tommy Seymour bagging a hat-trick.

  • The Scots found themselves 14-17 down but scored 40 unanswered points to seal a 54-17 victory.

  • Gregor Townsend has called Newcastle flanker Gary Graham into his squad for the match against the Springboks. Graham was in England’s training squad for the Six Nations but is set to represent Scotland.

SOUTH AFRICA

Head Coach: Rassie Erasmus

  • South Africa sealed an unlikely win against France with a try deep into stoppage time to secure the narrow result.

  • Overcoming a 14-point deficit, Bongi Mbonambi’s try with the final play of the game edged his side ahead as they stole a 26-29 victory.

  • Eben Etzebeth could be back for the Springboks whilst Frans Malherbe and Vincent Koch are expected to recover from knocks. However, Warren Whiteley looks set to miss out with a calf injury.

THE PREDICTION

Scotland will be looking to build on last week’s encouraging win over Fiji when they host South Africa on Saturday. The Scots scored 40 unanswered points in that victory but a tougher test awaits against the Springboks. They left it late to beat an out-of-sorts French outfit last week and despite heading into this game as favourites, Scotland can claim back-to-back wins.
