THE TEAM NEWS

AUCKLAND ACES

Coach: Mark O'Donnell

Captain: Michael Guptill-Bunce

  • Auckland Aces made it three wins in a row after they produced a dominant display to see off Canterbury Kings. The Aces were winners by nine-wickets after reaching their target of 123 with 17 balls remaining.
  • A first-wicket partnership of 113 between openers Daniel Bell-Drummond and Glenn Phillips provided the catalyst for the comfortable run chase whilst Matthew Quinn’s 4-20 set the platform for his side.
  • The Aces are able to call upon New Zealand international batsman Colin Munro for this game in a big boost to coach Mark O’Donnell and he will come straight into the side for this important game.

NORTHERN KNIGHTS

Coach: James Pamment

Captain: Dean Brownlie

  • Northern Knights continued their impressive start to their campaign with a huge win over Central Stags. The Knights posted a huge total of 230 with the bowling unit repaying the batsmen for their good work by skittling the Stags for just 99.
  • The formidable 131-run win has laid a real marker for the side at the top of the ladder and with just one defeat from their eight matches, they look like the team to beat.
  • Northern Knights batsman Daryl Mitchell has been rewarded for his sensational form with a call-up for the New Zealand T20 side that will face India in their upcoming series and this may prove to be his final appearance for the Knights before he makes a potential Black Caps debut.

THE PREDICTION

This should be a cracking game with Auckland Aces finding some form at the right time as they face the formidable Northern Knights. The hosts will need to be at their best if they are to take anything from this contest and the return of Colin Munro can aid their cause. The Knights have been consistent with both bat and ball and will be hoping to continue their lethal power-hitting. This could end up being a very close game but the Knights should come out on top.
