LAST MEETING
Skjern Handbold 24-26 Paris Saint-Germain HB

THE LOWDOWN

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN HB

  • Last time out, Paris Saint-Germain HB lost just their first game of the season, snapping their eight-game winning start as they lost to MOL-Pick Szeged 33-32.
  • Although they remain top of Group B, the result means that the French side’s lead over second-placed Szeged is one point, so they will need to recapture their form on the weekend to try to extend their lead at the top.
  • Right-back Nedim Remili and left back Mikkel Hansen are Paris’ two main attacking outlets as they have scored 47 and 45 goals respectively, although Norwegian Sander Sagosen scored seven times in their last game.

SKJERN HANDBOLD

  • Skjern Handbold are coming off a home loss at the hands of SG Flensburg-Handewitt, as they were defeated 31-24 and remain sixth in Group B, already ten points off the top after just nine games.
  • Skjern’s Anders Eggert is their main attacking threat and is the eighth top-scorer in the competition after he scored eight times in their loss to Flensburg.
  • Skjern’s real issues lie in defence though, as with 270 goals conceded they have one of the leakiest defences in the competition, and coming up against a free-flowing Paris attack could really test their resolve.

THE PREDICTION

Paris’ excellent start to the season has been slightly overshadowed by Barca’s dominance in Group A. However, the French side have lost just once so far and a home match against a struggling Skjern side should offer them the perfect opportunity to bounce back. However, of the six points the Norwegian side have at the moment, three of them were gained on the road so they could prove more of a test than the Parisians may have initially thought.
