THE TEAM NEWS

EVERTON

  • Everton lost their opening two competitive matches of the season by a 1-0 scoreline to Durham and then Birmingham but responded with a 3-2 win over Reading.
  • Claudia Walker showed signs of getting back to her best after scoring her first goals since returning from a hamstring injury so that provided a big boost to her and the team.
  • Dutch pair Dominique Bruinenberg and the talented Inessa Kaagman have been playing well and the former looks to have played her way into the starting eleven.

MANCHESTER CITY

  • City were slow to get going against Bristol Citty last time out but they put in an impressive second half performance and ran out comfortable 3-0 winners in the end.
  • They made various rotations for that match with Bardsley, Lawley, Parris and McManus all left on the bench but they should return to the starting eleven here.
  • After being held by Chelsea in their opening Super League match, City will be keen to get their first league win of the season under their belt here.

KEY STATS

  • Everton have lost each of their last three WSL matches – all without scoring a goal
  • Everton have lost three of their last four home WSL matches
  • Everton have won only one of their last 10 WSL matches – that solitary win was against Yeovil
  • Everton have conceded during the first-half in six of their last eight home WSL matches
  • Everton have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 10 home WSL matches
  • Everton have failed to keep a clean sheet during their last 14 WSL matches
  • Man City are unbeaten in their last seven competitive matches
  • Man City have won only one of their last six away WSL matches
  • Man City have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three WSL matches
  • Man City have failed to score in four of their last six away WSL matches
  • Man City have kept a clean sheet in six of their last seven competitive matches
  • Man City have conceded only one first-half goal during their last seven WSL matches

THE PREDICTION

Everton have been pretty underwhelming so far in the league and cup but they will take some heart from their win last time out. City have not exactly been firing themselves but they have had some tough encounters against Chelsea and Atletico, before rotating their pack against Bristol City. They are likely to field a relatively strong side here with the likes of Bardsley, McManus and Parris all starting, and they should have too much for Everton here.
