Last five meetings: Perth Scorchers W5, Melbourne Renegades W0
All-time meetings: Perth Scorchers W7, Melbourne Renegades W0
Coach: Justin Langer
Captain: Adam Voges
The Scorchers lost their first match of BBL07 last time out in Brisbane but skipper Adam Voges claimed it was nothing more than a blip and they remain one of the favourites for the tournament once again.
They make one change to their 13-man squad and that is to welcome back star fast bowler Mitchell Johnson who was rested for the long trip to Brisbane and he comes in for Haydan Morton and that is a huge boost to their bowling attack.
The Scorchers were hoping to have Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jason Behrendorff in their ranks at some point but neither will be fit enough to play in BBL07 so they have announced the signing of Tim Bresnan who will replace countryman David Willey when he departs for England duty after this game.
Coach: David Saker
Captain: Aaron Finch
The Renegades have been in great form so far in BBL07 and they come from a comprehensive win over their city rivals which has firmly established them as the favourites to win the tournament now.
They make one change to the 13-man squad for this match as 22 year-old all-rounder Matt Short comes in for Chris Tremain but the likelihood is that they name the same starters that dominated the Stars last time out.
Their batting line-up is firing on all cylinders right now with no weak links now that skipper Aaron Finch has found form with two ferocious innings in the last two matches with a 51 (38 balls) and 43 (22 balls) setting them on the way to comfortable victories.
The first match between these two sides was a low scoring affair with the Scorchers winning relatively comfortably aside from a couple of late wickets as they chased the Renegades 130/9. Mitchell Johnson was key in that game with 3/13 and he will be here too especially after being rested last time out. The Renegades’ batting has improved since that game and predominantly the form of Aaron Finch so that may be a differentiating factor but the Scorchers will be confident on home turf and their bowling attack may just have the edge once again.
