PERTH SCORCHERS

Coach: Justin Langer

Captain: Adam Voges

  • The Scorchers are virtually secure in a top four place now as they sit alongside the Strikers at the top of the ladder with six wins from eight matches and victory here will seal their spot although it will be a tough test against this talented Hurricanes side.
  • Skipper Adam Voges returns here after suspension and he will come back into the starting line-up with Tim David the most likely player to make way for him which will be a significant boost to the team.
  • Shaun Marsh is still unavailable due to injury but they still have plenty of strength in depth and their bowling attack remains strong despite losing the likes of Richardson, Tye and Willey with Kelly and Bresnan coming in and impressing.

HOBART HURRICANES

Coach: Gary Kirsten

Captain: George Bailey

  • The Hurricanes’ five-match winning run came to an end on Wednesday as they lost narrowly to the Strikers and they will have to end a five-match losing streak to the Perth Scorchers who they have struggled against in recent seasons.
  • Simon Milenko was a late withdrawal from the Strikers match as he dislocated his finger in the warm-up but he is available here and should come back into the side with Nathan Reardon dropping out of the team.
  • Despite losing to the Strikers, their key men were still in fine form with Jofra Archer taking another three wickets, and the likes of Short, Doolan and McDermott batting well, so they will need those key men to produce the goods once again against the Scorchers.

PREDICTION
Two of the best teams in BBL07 meet at the WACA knowing that a win should seal a semi-final place. The Scorchers continued their fine form last time out, while the Hurricanes lost narrowly to the Strikers but still had plenty of positives to take from that match. The Hurricanes have the edge in terms of batting, but the Scorchers have the edge with their immense bowling attack, and combined with home advantage, the Scorchers have to be favoured right now.
