HEAD-TO-HEAD

Last five meetings: Melbourne Renegades W0, Perth Scorchers W5

All-time meetings: Melbourne Renegades W0, Perth Scorchers W6

MELBOURNE RENEGADES

Coach: David Saker

Captain: Aaron Finch

  • After winning their opening two matches in emphatic style, the Renegades are the new favourites to win BBL07 so there is some pressure on them to keep this form going despite facing a Scorchers’ side that they have never beaten.
  • They make one change to their 13-man squad for this game as fast bowler Chris Tremain comes in to replace Will Sutherland but the likelihood is that they name the same eleven that beat the Brisbane Heat before Christmas.
  • They will look to Dwayne Bravo for more inspiration following his seven wickets in the opening two games while Cameron White has been the star with the bat and his knocks of 79 and 51 in those games.

PERTH SCORCHERS

Coach: Justin Langer

Captain: Adam Voges

  • The Scorchers have also won their opening two matches and they will take heart from their head-to-head record against the Renegades which has seen them win all six of their previous meetings with the Melbourne outfit.
  • Bowling has been their strong point so far with Mitchell Johnson, Andrew Tye, Jhye Richardson and David Willey in inspired form and they will have to be at their best against this star-studded Renegades batting line-up.
  • Michael Klinger is in the 13-man squad but his participation will frequently be in doubt due to his wife’s illness, while Tim David and James Muirhead come into the 13-man squad at the expense of Joel Paris and Josh Phillipe.

PREDICTION

Both of these teams have 100% winning records after two matches and expectations are for each of them. The Scorchers remain without some of their Australian international players which largely affects their batting strength. Their bowling however is the best in the BBL and it will be tested against this Renegades batting line-up. They have managed to survive without the likes of Shaun and Mitchell Marsh to date, but this may be a step too far with the Renegades favoured to get their first win over the Scorchers in their 7th attempt.
