All-time meetings: Melbourne Renegades W3, Adelaide Strikers W3
Coach: David Saker
Captain: Cameron White
The Renegades have undone their excellent early BBL07 form by losing their last two matches to the Scorchers and the Stars, and the pressure is now on to get a win here to remain in contention for a semi-final place.
The downturn has coincided with the loss of Cameron White and Aaron Finch to the Australian one-day team and their batting in particular has looked quite weak without the in-form duo but they welcome White back here and can also count on Kieron Pollard and Brad Hodge too.
The club have signed 17-year-old starlet Mackenzie Harvey who is the nephew of former national team all-rounder Ian Harvey, and he would be the youngest player to ever play in the Big Bash if the batting prodigy does get a start.
Coach: Jason Gillespie
Captain: Travis Head
The Strikers’ 11-run win over the Hurricanes on Wednesday saw them rack up their eighth win in BBL07 and they know that another victory here would all but seal a semi-final place for the team.
Star wicketkeeper/batsman Alex Carey was called into the Australian ODI squad due to Tim Payne's fitness issues but he has been released for this game and that is a huge boost to their batting especially.
Skipper Travis Head also returns to the 13-man squad after international duty so that will boost their batting line-up further but they will still heavily rely on their bowling attack which is as strong as any in the competition with Rashid Khan, Peter Siddle, Ben Laughlin and Michael Neser leading the way.
Both of these teams welcome back a number of key players from international duty with only Aaron Finch missing out for Renegades so that will slightly favour the Strikers. The Strikers have the big edge in terms of their bowling attack and that could well be the decisive factor with only the Scorchers possessing an attack as good as theirs. The Renegades have been fading in their last couple of matches and despite the return of White, the Strikers’ bowlers could hand them a third consecutive loss.
